Grand Rapids Wildlife Rehabilitation

Frequently asked questions.

  • Please visit our Orphaned Wildlife page here . If you still have questions please reach out to us and we will discuss your situation with you.

  • No. In Minnesota it is illegal to have any native wild animal in your care for more than 24 hours unless you possess a current MN state permit and federal permit, depending on the animal. You can find a list of permitted wildlife rehabilitators here.

  • No. It is a myth that animals will abandon their young if they were touched by humans. It will stress the parents and the baby out (which can be fatal to the baby) so do not touch a wild animal unless instructed to do so by a permitted wildlife rehabilitator.

  • Please message us the date you brought the animal to us and the species. We will get back to you within one week. If the animal was transferred to another facility you will need to contact that facility.

  • If you are interested in volunteering please visit our Get Involved page for more information and then contact us.
